Hungary’s MOL expands maleic production

LONDON (ICIS news)--Hungarian maleic anhydride (MA) producer MOL, has increased the capacity of its Szazhalombatta plant by almost 25%, a company source said on Friday.

 

Production capacity at the facility near Budapest has been increased from 13,000 tonnes to 16,000 tonnes following the installation of a new reactor.

 

Meanwhile, sources in the European MA market said demand was strong, driven by robust activity from the unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) industry.

 

UPR growth in 2007 was estimated at 5-8%.
