DUBAI (ICIS news)--India and Oman are planning to build a fertilizer plant at Sur in northeast Oman, New Delhi's ambassador to Muscat said on the sidelines of an international exhibition in Oman late on Wednesday.

The total cost of the project will be around $1bn (€690m) and it is slated to produce 1.65m tonnes/year of urea and 248,000 tonnes/year of ammonia, added ambassador Anil Wadhwa.

The new project will depend on the abundance of the feedstock.

Oman India Fertilizer Co (Omifco) started production in March 2005.
