NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s largest calcium carbonate producer Gulshan Sugar & Chemicals (GSCL) will merge with sorbitol producer Gulshan Polyols Limited (GPL), the two companies said on Thursday.
Both companies belong to Gulshan group which includes another calcium carbonate producer Gulshan Chemfill Limited (GCL). The merger proposal was approved separately by the respective boards of directors.
Neither GSCL nor GPL disclosed the merger rationale. Both boards accepted PricewaterhouseCooper's advice on the merger.
GSCL, which no longer produces sugar, produces 90,000 tonnes/year of precipitated and activated calcium carbonate grade at Muzaffarnagar in ?xml:namespace>
GPL operates 30,000 tonnes/year of sorbitol capacity in the Bharuch district of Gujarat for use in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
