SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Chinese producers Fujian Jinxing and Zhejiang Rongsheng shut down their polyester units for turnarounds on 16 February, company sources said on Tuesday.

Traders expected the two turnarounds not to cause a ripple in the Chinese polyester markets as both shutdown periods were short.

Fujian Jinxing’s polyester unit has the capacity to produce 200,000 tonnes/year of polyester filament yarn (PFY), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chip and polyester stable fibre (PSF) at its south China plant.

The scheduled maintenance would last for one week, a company source said.

Zhejiang Rongsheng will restart its 200,000 tonne/year polyester unit in east China on 29 February after a 10-day planned turnaround.

The unit, located in east China, produces pre-oriented yarn (POY) and fully drawn yarn (FDY), an official from the company said.
