TORONTO (ICIS news)--One worker died in a small explosion on Friday at Merck KGaA’s liquid crystals facility in Darmstadt, Germany, a company spokeswoman said, confirming media reports.

No other workers were injured.

The accident was contained to one room at the plant and production was not interrupted, she said, adding it was more of “flash” than an explosion.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.

According to local fire officials, there were no chemical emissions and neighbours had not been in danger.
