NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--Indian state trading house MMTC Limited issued on Friday a global tendering invitation for supply of 660,000 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP).

The last date for submission of offers is 3 March. Bidders would have to keep their offers valid for 30 days from that date.

MMTC has sought deliveries in 23 parcels during April-November 2008 at seven ports to cover the demand during both summer and winter cropping seasons.

The ports are Vizag and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, Chennai or Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, Dharamtar in Maharashtra, New Mangalore in Karnataka and Kandla in Gujarat.

MMTC has specified quantities to be delivered at each port during each month of the eight-month, eight-parcel contract.

It has, for instance, specified arrival of 30,000 tonnes each at Dharamtar and New Mangalore, 20,000 tonnes at Chennai or Tuticorin and 25,000 tonnes at Kandla, aggregating to 105,000 tonnes in April.

The bidders would also have the option to offer the fertilizer either in black or white colour with total nitrogen content of 18% and soluble phosphate content of 41%.

This is MMTC’s fifth tendering invitation for import of DAP in the current financial year ending 31 March 2008.

Under India’s foreign trade policy, any company can import any amount of DAP without any permission from the Government that operates differential subsidy scheme for imported DAP and indigenous DAP.
