SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China’s YPC-BASF plans to shut its 320,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant in Nanjing for about three weeks starting early March, sources close to the company said Monday.

“The shutdown is not expected to have much of an impact on supplies, as contracts would still be fulfilled by existing inventories,” a source said.

Though the plant is scheduled to shutdown around the same time as sister company Yangzi Petrochemical’s own MEG turnaround, sources were unable to say if the two shutdowns would run parallel to each other.

YPC-BASF, a joint venture between Sinopec-owned Yangzi and German petrochemical producer BASF, is based in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
