SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Farsa Petrochemical’s 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant in Assaluyeh remains shut, after attempts last week to restart it failed again, sources close to the company said on Wednesday.
“As far as we are concerned, the restart failed and it is still down. We do not know when another [attempt] to restart will happen,” said one of the sources.
The new plant had attempted several start-ups since last year but had to shutdown almost immediately each time due to a series of problems, involving equipment, feedstock supply and the weather.
Some sources with contracts with Farsa said the producer would likely try to restart very soon, as the company was committed to supplying some traders March volumes.
The company was unavailable for comment.
