TORONTO (ICIS news)--BASF has appointed Ashland as a distributor for certain amine solvents and technologies in the US and Canada to improve its access to customers in the energy market, the German chemicals major said on Thursday without disclosing financial terms.

The amine solvents and technologies are used to remove carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur compounds and other impurities from gas and liquid streams, BASF said.

The deal with Ashland would provide BASF with added technical and selling resources and significantly increase its ability to reach and help customers in the energy sector, it said.

BASF is a market leader in the treatment of natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), synthesis gas (syngas), ammonia and flue gas.
