HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US butadiene (BD) producers have nominated March contract increases of 3 cents/lb ($66/tonne) and 4 cents/lb amid firm demand and tight supply, market sources said on Thursday.

One producer nominated an increase of 4 cents/lb, while three other producers stepped out with the proposed 3 cents/lb increase.

The hefty nominations were widely expected due to lingering tightness in the US market.

The US BD contract in February settled at a record 61 cents/lb, up 2 cents/lb from January, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

BD producers include ExxonMobil, Equistar, Shell and Texas Petrochemicals.
