US March benzene contracts up but unconfirmed

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US aromatics traders said late on Thursday afternoon that March benzene contracts settled at $3.97/gal (€2.62/gal) FOB (free on board), up 43 cents from February.

However, producers and contract buyers were unable to confirm the settlement prices.

The unconfirmed settlement was up as expected by the market, but below producer nominations at $4.20/gal FOB and $4.30/gal FOB.

Major US benzene producers include Exxon Mobil, Equistar and BP.
