WASHINGTON (ICIS news)--US maleic anhydride (MA) producer Huntsman plans to idle 50% of its Pensacola, Florida plant for scheduled maintenance in March, a company source said on Friday.
The programme would start on 3 March and be completed in eight days, the source added.
Huntsman had previously shut down the 110,000 tonne/year MA plant for about two weeks in January to carry out similar maintenance work.
The producer has prepared stocks ahead of the turnaround and did not expect any impact on its ability to continue meeting contractual obligations.
The US MA market is balanced to long, sources said, as demand from the key downstream unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) segment has softened due to the slowdown in the housing, automotive and marine industries.
