SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Toray Plastics Malaysia (TPM) plans to conduct trial runs at its new acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) unit in Penang state in mid-March, a company source said on Monday.

Construction of the 110,000 tonne/year unit had been completed and the company would bring out material to the market in April if the trial runs were successful, he added.

The unit can produce 70,000 tonnes/year of regular resins and 40,000 tonnes/year of transparent resins.

The company is southeast Asia’s largest ABS producer and currently operates four lines with a combined capacity of 220,000 tonnes/year.
