Fujian Refining to start up refinery in August

XIAOSHAN (ICIS news)--Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Co is due to start up its 12m tonne/year refinery at Quanzhou, Fujian province in August, a company source said on Wednesday.

The refinery, expanded from 4m tonnes/year, is part of a petrochemical complex that also comprise a 800,000 tonne/year cracker, two polyethylene (PE) units, each with a capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year.

It also includes a 400,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit and an aromatics complex to produce 700,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX) and 300,000 tonnes/year of benzene.

These downstream petrochemical plants are on schedule to come on stream in the first quarter next year, he said, adding that the PE facility will be producing linear low density PE (LLDPE) and high density PE (HDPE).

Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Co is a joint venture between Sinopec Fujian, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco.
