SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thai polyester producer Tuntex Textile will be converting its defunct polyester staple fibre (PSF) line to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chips by the end of 2008, said a company executive on Friday.
"The PSF line was shut down in October 2006. The new PET bottle chip line will have a daily capacity of 400 tonnes," said the executive.
She added that the PET bottle chips produced would be for both domestic and export sales, but the exact breakdown has yet to be finalised.
The executive declined to comment on the financial cost for the conversion.
Indorama is expected to complete its acquisition of Tuntex later this month.
