SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan Energy plans to shut down a crude distillation unit (CDU) and secondary facilities at its 205,200 bbl/day Mizushima refinery in Japan for scheduled maintenance from April 2009, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The 95,200 bbl/day CDU No 2, the 71,000 bbl/day vacuum distillation unit (VDU) No 2 and a 52,000 bbl/day fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) will shut down for 40 days of maintenance in April and May 2009.

The units were last shut down for planned maintenance in April 2005.

In 2008 the only planned maintenance at the Mizushima refinery will involve the shutdown of the 26,000 bbl/day flexi-coker in April for 20-30 days of maintenance.

The Mizushima refinery is located in the Mizushima Industrial Zone area close to the coastal city of Kurashiki in the southwest of the main island of Honshu.
