SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s largest phenol-acetone producer Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) will shut its phenol-acetone units in Mailiao for scheduled maintenance within the next few days, a company official said on Friday.

“The turnaround will take place around 10 March,” the official said in Mandarin, although he declined to give an exact date.

The shutdown of the two lines, with a combined capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 250,000 tonnes/year of acetone, is expected to last for 40 days, he said.

Other key phenol-acetone producers in Taiwan include Chang Chun Plastics and Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp.
