SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Kashima Oil has reduced output at its 195,000 bbl/day Ibaraki refinery in Japan following the shutdown of a vacuum distillation unit (VDU) and desulphurisation unit for scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Friday.

As a result of the shutdown runs through the crude distillation unit at the refinery had been reduced in March to around 77% of capacity, from around 90-95% in previous months, the source added.

The 42,000 bbl/day VDU No 2 and the 23,000 bbl/day vacuum gas oil hydrodesulphurisation unit (VGO HDS) at the Ibaraki refinery were shut down on 5 March for around 10-20 days.

Kashima Oil is subsidiary of Japan Energy, which also operates the 205,200 bbl/day Mizushima refinery.
