LONDON (ICIS news)--Undesa will consolidate its Spanish fatty acid operations incrementally in 2008, beginning in the second quarter, said CEO Santiago Bargueno on Monday.

It was currently building up stocks at both its Spanish and Italian sites for the transition period, the company said.

Undesa will move its fatty acid and glycerine operations from its current Vildecans site near Barcelona to join its derivative fatty acid plant in Zuera, close to Zaragoza.

There would also be an overlap in production at both the Spanish sites to aid the smooth running of the move, it added.

Undesa manufactures a wide range of fatty acid derivatives to include esters, metallic stearates and stabilisers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Other fatty acid players include Oleon, Uniqema, Danisco and Evonik.
