HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The initial US March mixed xylene (MX) contract settled at $3.20/gal ($960/tonne), up 34 cents from the February contract price and 2 cents/gal above January, market participants said on Tuesday.

The increase was attributed to strength in the MX spot market and record highs in the NYMEX energy complex.

The €624/tonne FOB (free on board) HTC (Houston-Texas City) settlement was consistent with market expectations and spot values during the week.

Major US MX producers include BP, Flint Hills Resources and Chevron Phillips Chemical.
