SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--BP Zhuhai will shut down its 500,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in southern China for maintenance in April for about 10-14 days, sources close to the company said on Friday.

"The plant would be shut in the earlier part of April, for no more than two weeks, likely for about 10 days," one of the sources said. However, a company source, who confirmed the proposed shutdown, declined to comment further.

The PTA major's customers said they had been informed by BP officials that contract supplies would not be disrupted.

BP operates another 900,000 tonne/year PTA plant at the same Zhuhai site.
