LONDON (ICIS news)--An INEOS Polyolefins’ low density polyethylene (LDPE) line at its facility in Cologne, Germany, is due back up to full capacity this weekend, a company source said on Friday.

The unit had been running at reduced rates since 19 February, due to an undisclosed technical issue.

INEOS has been able to cover its customers’ needs as LDPE production from the second line at Cologne, which was not affected by the technical issues, and from its newly acquired line at Bamble in Norway, which was running normally.

The combined annual capacity of both lines at the site is 400,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, LDPE monthly prices were stable to slightly down, in March after a series of price hikes which left price levels at a fresh record high.

LDPE spot numbers were lower than monthly business, barely above €1,200/tonne ($1,875/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), in some cases.

LDPE producers in Europe include Borealis, LyondellBasell, Polimeri Europa, Total Petrochemicals, Repsol and Dow.
