MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Kansai Nerolac Paints is planning to build a new automotive and architecture paint factory in India due to the expansion of Japanese car makers in the country, a senior official said on Monday.

"Our current capacity in India is around 180,000 tonne/year and will be around 250,000 tonne/year after we set up the new plant," Hitoshi Matsuda a company official from Kansai Paints told ICIS news.

Matsuda added that the construction at the plant in Bangalore, Karnatika state, would begin soon and probably be completed by 2010.

However, Matsuda did not disclose the cost for setting up the plant and the capacity for each product but he did add Kansai is planning to expand in China and South-eastern Asia owing to the region's sound economic growth.

"We are challenging to be in top five paint manufacturers in the world," Matsuda added.
