SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Russia Ufaorgsyntez Chemicals plans to shut down its 60,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant for scheduled maintenance from mid-April, a source close to the company said on Monday.

This turnaround would last 40 days, but it would not have an impact on the domestic BPA market as Russian cargoes were only a small part of market supply, a trader said.

“The company is the major supplier of Russian BPA for the China market and it sends about 4,000 tonnes BPA to China every year,” he added.

BPA prices were assessed at $1,900-1,960/tonne (€1,216-1,254/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) China for shipments in March, traders said.
