MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia has announced new export duties on mineral fertilizers, the government's press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

Russia's Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov signed a decree to introduce the new tariffs.

Nitrogen and mixed fertilizers will be subject to an 8.5% duty, while potash fertilizers will be subject to a duty of 5%, it said.

The decree will become effective in one month from its publication, and will remain effective till 30 April 2009, according to the statement.

On 6 March, Zubkov criticised "monopolistic" fertilizers producers and suggested fertilizer export tariffs with the proceeds  going to subsidise domestic buyers of mineral fertilizers.
