TORONTO (ICIS news)--An explosion at an aerosols plant in northwest Wisconsin injured two workers on Tuesday morning, US news media reported.

The facility - operated by Cortec Corp in Spooner, some 100 miles northeast of St. Paul, Minnesota - had been shut down pending an investigation, the Associated Press and local media reported, citing a company executive and fire officials.

Cortec Corp did not immediately return a call requesting additional information.

St. Paul, Minnesota-based Cortec is described as a producer of a range of corrosion-inhibiting chemicals and related products.

The company lists the plant at Spooner as part of its advanced spray technologies division.
