SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Idemitsu Chemicals plans to shut its 47,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) plant in Chiba for a scheduled 50-day turnaround starting end-March, a company official said on Wednesday.

The plant is currently running at full capacity to build up inventory, and supply to its customers will not be affected, the source added.

The shutdown is expected to have minimal impact on spot prices in northeast Asia due to ample supplies in the region and lukewarm demand from end-users, traders said.
