LONDON (ICIS news)--Petkim is running its Aliaga cracker at 80% capacity after restarting the unit on Sunday, a company source confirmed on Wednesday.

“The rates are being raised incrementally day by day,” the source added.

The 5 March outage at the 520,000 tonne/year ethylene cracker was due to compressor problems. The cracker also has a nameplate capacity of 240,000 tonnes/year of propylene.

Petkim also produce polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and acrylonitrile (ACN) at Aliaga and it reduced these products' operating rates as a result of the cracker issue.

There was little impact on the associated polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing unit as it was on a planned shutdown.
