SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Xiang Lu Petrochemical, one of China’s largest purified terephthalic acid (PTA) makers, is operating its 1.5m tonne/year plant at full rate after restarting the unit late last week, a company source said on Monday.

The plant in Xiamen city, Fujian province, was shut down on 18 March due to a mechanical fault and it was restarted two days later.

PTA prices were up yuan (CNY) 150-160/tonne ($21-23/tonne) to CNY8,100-8,130/tonne ex-warehouse (EXWH) east China on rising upstream paraxylene (PX) prices and tight PTA spot supplies due to a spate of turnarounds, market players said.
