SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Korea Petrochemical Industry Co (KPIC) plans to shut down its polyolefins plants at Onsan on 5 or 6 April for maintenance, in line with the turnaround of its upstream cracker, a company source said on Monday.

The South Korean company’s facilities, comprising a 450,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit and a 350,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant, were expected to be shut down for two weeks, he said.

KPIC exports mainly film grade HDPE and homopolymer grade PP to China.

Other major polyolefins producers in South Korea include Honam Petrochemical, Daelim Industrial and LG Chemical.
