NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India has extended the validity of anti-dumping duties (ADDs) on caustic soda imports from Indonesia, Taiwan and the EU excluding France by one year to 26 March 2009, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry took this decision on the basis of recommendation from anti-dumping authority (ADA) in Commerce Department. ADA had said it required time to complete sunset review (SSR) of ADDs.

ADA had notified initiation of the SSR on 7 March following a petition from Alkali Manufacturers Association of India (AMAI) for continuation and enhancement of ADDs for an additional five years.

India had originally imposed definitive ADDs on 27 March 2003 for period of five years. It modified these levies on 10 July 2006 after a mid-term review.

The variable ADD tariff is calculated as the difference between the reference price (RP) separately specified for each country/region and the price of corresponding imports at Indian ports.

The RP is $256.88/tonne (€161.83/tonne) for supplies of Indonesian origin and $295.46/tonne for consignments of EU (excluding France) origin.

($1 = €0.63)
