BUENOS AIRES (ICIS news)--The Indian government is seeking to triple plastics exports to Latin America during the next three years, a trade council executive said on Thursday.

India is interested in boosting exports to Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Colombia, said Rajan Kalyanpur, director India’s plastics export promotion council.

India plastic exports to Argentina amounted to $13.5m (€8.5m) in 2007, Kalyanpur said at the annual International Plastics Exposition in Buenos Aires.

“The Argentine demand is increasing, and the industry is growing up in the country”, added Kalyanpur.

India wants to export more polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate, he said.
