MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Japan’s Nippon Paints is setting up a 1.5m litre/month decorative paints plant in Lahore, Pakistan, at a cost of about Pakistani rupees (PRs) 80m ($1.2m) as part of the company’s expansion strategy, a source from the firm said on Friday.
Construction of the plant would begin in June 2008 and be completed by January 2009, he said, adding production facilities for setting up the facility would be imported from
The facility would eventually produce coating, industrial and automotive and refining paints too, said Nippon Paints technical manager for Pakistan Nasaar Hatayat.
“After three years we would review the plant as to see if we can manufacture any other produce,” the source said.
