SAN ANTONIO, Texas (ICIS news)--The growth of the petrochemical industry in the Middle East and Asia will lift the entire industry, said the president of the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA).

“It’s competition, and competition is good,” said the NPRA’s Charles Drevna. “It makes everyone better.”

Drevna continued: “At NPRA, we don’t want to put fences around ourselves or anywhere else. We don’t believe in market interference. An open and free market is what the global market calls for, and everyone will benefit from that,” he said.

Drevna spoke in advance of the of the International Petrochemical Conference (IPC), in San Antonio. The meeting runs from Sunday through Tuesday.
