SHANGHAI (ICIS news)—China’s Luoyang Petrochemical plans to shut down its 325,000tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in early May for a 45-day scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

"It’s an overhaul from upstream to downstream and is the most extensive in three years. The aromatics complex would first close for maintenance from 25 April," the source added.

This shutdown would not impact the market as Luoyang’s PTA was mainly used for its downstream polyester unit, the source added.

PTA prices were pegged at yuan (CNY)7,970-8,030/tonne($1,137-1,145/tonne) ex-warehouse(EXWH) east China, traders said.
