India issues further DAP tender under MCFL

LONDON (ICIS news)--Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (MCFL) has issued a tender for 150,000 tonnes of phosphate fertilizer, trader sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The tender, which specified no closing date, called for the delivery of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer between April and September.

India has secured over 1.5m tonnes of DAP for importation in 2008 but imported over 2.5m tonnes in 2007, hence at least a further 1m tonnes is required.

This also comes at a time when domestic DAP production has been curtailed due to phosphoric acid feedstock supply issues from North Africa due to a stalemate in negotiations over 2008-09 contract prices.
