LONDON (ICIS news)--India’s Mangalore Chemical and Fertilizers Ltd (MCFL) has announced a muriate of potash (MOP) tender, local sources said on Tuesday.

The tender requests around 175,000 tonnes of standard MOP over the period 2008-2009.

So far no offers have been reported and it is thought several producers will not offer due to tight supplies.

There is no specific closing date for the tender.

This tender follows last week’s tender announcement by India’s MMTC, requesting the import of an unspecified quantity of MOP for delivery April 2008 to March 2009.

MMTC normally procures 200,000 tonnes annually. This tender closes on Wednesday 2 April.

MCFL also recently announced a tender for diammonium phosphate (DAP).
