SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese purified terephthalic acid (PTA) maker, Mistubishi Chemicals has raised its April nominated price by $80/tonne ((€51.20/tonne) from March on higher raw material paraxylene (PX) values, a company source said on Wednesday.
The company’s April nomination was pegged at $1,030/tonne CFR (cost and freight) CMP (China main port) on firmer PX which was notionally valued at $1,330/tonne CFR CMP by PX sellers.
Other major PTA suppliers in Asia are Formosa Chemical and Fiber Corp (FCFC), Mitsui Chemicals and Samsung Petrochemical.
PTA is used to make polyester fibres and yarns and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips.
