HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US April mixed xylene (MX) contracts were partially settled at $3.35/gal ($1,005/tonne) up 15 cents from the March contract settlement of $3.20/gal, aromatics markets participants said on Wednesday.

Aromatics trade sources have previously said the MX FOB (free on board) contract, which was partially settled on Tuesday, would likely move up as a result of an increase in spot prices during March.

Current MX spot levels were at $3.36-3.38/gal FOB HTC (Houston-Texas City) , up from $3.10-3.13/gal FOB HTC on 2 March, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

Major US xylene producers include BP, Flint Hills Resources and Chevron Phillips Chemical.
