HOUSTON (ICIS news)--South American plastics industry groups are joining forces to influence public opinion, industry sources said on Thursday.

Trade groups from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador have created the so-called “South American Plastics Network” to combat misperceptions about health and environmental harms on the continent.

The organisation will share information about plastics and their use after consumption with a priority on environmental issues in order to better reach consumers in each of the respective countries.

Argentina will lead the group initially, and each country, in turn, will take over in six-month periods on a rotating basis.
