SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) maker Samsung Petrochemical has raised its April nominated price by $80/tonne ((€51.20/tonne) from last month amid higher feedstock paraxylene (PX) values, a company source said on Friday.

The South Korean company’s April nomination was pegged at $1,030/tonne (€659/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) China on firmer PX - which was notionally valued at $1,330/tonne CFR China by PX sellers.

Other major PTA suppliers in Asia are Formosa Chemical and Fiber Corp (FCFC), Mitsui Chemicals and Mitsubishi Chemicals.

PTA is used to make polyester fibres and yarns and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips.
