MOSCOW (ICIS news)--The Russian government has decided to lift the export duties previously levied on polyethylene (PE) from Russia, the government's press service said in a statement on Thursday.

Russia's Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov signed a decree on 7 April to lift the export duties on PE. It would become effective one month from the date of its publication, the statement added.

Russian PE exports were previously subjected to 10% duty. In 2007, Russia produced about 1.25m tonnes of PE, while exports amounted to some 200,000 tonnes, according to the government's statistics.
