HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US imports of perchloroethylene (perc) in February were 1,555 tonnes, up 600% from the same month a year before, according to data released on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
February imports were 75% less than the 6,167 tonnes imported in January, the ITC said. Year-to-date imports were 112% higher than the same time one year earlier.
Exports of perc in February were 1,351 tonnes, or 29% higher than the same month a year before, according to the ITC.
Exports in the month were 6% more than the 1,279 tonnes exported in January.
US perc spot prices were assessed on Tuesday at 45-51 cents/lb ($992-1,124/tonne) ex-tank, unchanged from February, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
Perc suppliers include Dow Chemical, INEOS, Occidental Chemical and PPG Industries.
