SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--State-run Ethylene Malaysia (EMSB) has delayed a scheduled turnaround at its 400,000 tonne/year ethylene plant in Kertih, which was originally supposed to start in the second half of April, market sources said on Friday

The ethane cracker, located on the eastern coast of Malaysia, was due for a two-to-four week turnaround but this was delayed due to unspecified reasons, they said, declining to provide further details.

Ethylene is fed to neighbouring Polyethylene Malaysia, which operates a 280,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) swing plant at Kertih and also delivered to local styrene monomer and vinyl chloride monomer plants in Malaysia.

EMSB is a joint venture between Malaysia's state-owned Petronas, BP and Japan's Idemitsu Petrochemical.
