LONDON (ICIS news)--The new European joint venture Dow/BASF 300,000 tonne/year hydrogen peroxide-to-propylene oxide (HPPO) plant at Antwerp, Belgium will be delayed until the second part of 2008, confirmed a Dow source on Friday.

The unit was previously scheduled to come on-stream in May 2008, but some construction issues have thwarted these plans, according to the seller.

BASF had previously said it was not prepared to comment.

The Dow source said it was in the interest of both parties to start the plant as soon possible and it was understood that all efforts were being made to rectify the issues.

Other PO participants include Lyondell, INEOS Oxide, Emsland, Chemogas, Huntsman and Kolb.
