Tokuyama plans turnaround at caustic soda plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Tokuyama Corp plans to shut down its 500,000 tonnes/year caustic soda plant for a scheduled maintenance in the third quarter of this year, a source close to the company said on Monday.

The facility in Tokuyama, western Japan, would be shut down for around a month starting early October, he added.

The impact of this shutdown on the spot market would be limited as Tokuyama sells most of its caustic soda on a term basis and there would be ample time for the company to stock up before the scheduled maintenance, a trader said.
