LONDON (ICIS news)--Arkema is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 60% from its hydrochloroflurocarbon refrigerant plant in Changshu industrial facility in eastern China by burning a by-product, the French chemical company said on Tuesday.

“The incinerator should become operational by mid-2008,” the company added.

The company estimates incineration will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6m tonnes/year

This includes a quota of 3.4m tonnes/year which will be eligible for certified emission reductions allocated by the UN's framework convention on climate change, the company added.
