SRF to set up India polyester industrial yarn unit

NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s SRF Limited will set up 32,000 tonne/year polyester industrial yarn unit under its technical textiles expansion project at at Gummidipoondi in Tamil Nadu, a government official said on Wednesday.

He said that Indian rupees (Rs) 2.5bn ($63m) project provided for setting up 32,000 tonne/year tyre cord dipped fabric, 6,000 tonne/year V-belt cord and 5,000 tonnes/year belting fabric lines.

It also envisaged expansion of nylon 6 and nylon 6,6 industrial fabric capacity at the site.

He said environmental clearance had been granted for the project.

SRF is India’s largest nylon tyre cord fabric producer. It also manufacturers polyester films, choloromethanes and flourochemicals.
