SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--PetroChina subsidiary Jilin Petrochemical, plans to extend the maintenance at its 180,000 tonnes/year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) unit by over 10 days, a source close to company said on Tuesday.
The turnaround, which was supposed to start on 10 May would now last for more than 40 days instead of a month as originally scheduled, the source added.
The unit was expected to restart on 23 June, said the source adding that the shutdown was in line with a regular maintenance that the company undertook every two or three years at its upstream cracker in May.
The ABS plant is presently running at a high operating rate, but was expected to lose about 22,000 tonnes in output during the shutdown, the source added.
