SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Korea Petrochemical Industry Co (KPIC) has restarted its cracker after a maintenance turnaround, a company source said on Friday.
The 460,000 tonne/year cracker at Onsan, was shut down on 1 April for a 25-day turnaround which ended this morning.
“Everything is running smoothly and we are already hitting 70% production rate. By this afternoon, the plant will be running at maximum operation rate,” the source added.
The South Korean company also has a 450,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit and a 350,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Onsan, which also underwent turnarounds earlier this month.
Lotte Daesan, another cracker operator, was also having a turnaround in its 650,000 tonne/year cracker in Daesan.
The cracker would go through a debottlenecking to 1m tonnes/year during the turnaround which was scheduled to end on 10 May.
